Unleash the Power of Inclusion - Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2023
World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD)
Is a global awareness day observed on March 21 every year,
recognized by the Ministry of Health Tanzania (Majaliwa, 2021). As an NGO
working towards promoting the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities,
including Down syndrome, SOHICOHE acknowledges the significance of this day in
raising awareness and advocating for the rights of people with Down syndrome.
Down syndrome affects people from
all occupations, and as an organization, we are committed to providing support
and resources to people with Down syndrome and their families. We believe that
everyone has the right to access education and healthcare, and participate fully
in society. Through our advocacy efforts, we aim to challenge stereotypes and
promote the inclusion of people with Down syndrome in all aspects of life.
SOHICOHE works closely with other
organizations and stakeholders to improve the lives of people with Down
syndrome. We provide training and resources to healthcare workers, educators,
and community leaders to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills needed
to support people with Down syndrome.
On World Down Syndrome Day, we join
hands with other organizations and individuals to raise awareness and celebrate
the achievements of people with Down syndrome. We encourage everyone to wear
odd socks to show support and raise awareness about the condition. We also urge
the government to prioritize the rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome
in policies and programs.
In conclusion, as an organization,
SOHICOHE recognizes the importance of World Down Syndrome Day in promoting the
rights and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. We are committed to
advocating for their rights, providing support and resources, and working
towards creating a world where people with Down syndrome are valued and
included as members of society.
Through our programs and
initiatives, SOHICOHE is working tirelessly to create a world where people with
Down syndrome can thrive and reach their full potential. We believe that
everyone deserves the chance to access quality education, healthcare, and
social services, regardless of their abilities or background.
Our advocacy efforts are aimed at
challenging the stigma and discrimination against people with Down syndrome and
promoting their inclusion in all areas of society. We work with local
communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure that people with Down
syndrome have a voice and are included in decision-making processes.
On World Down Syndrome Day, we
invite you to join us in celebrating the achievements of people with Down
syndrome and raising awareness about the condition. Your support will help us continue
our vital work, providing essential resources and services to families and
individuals affected by Down syndrome.
Together, we can create a world where people with Down syndrome are valued, respected, and included members of society. By supporting SOHICOHE, you will be making a real difference in the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families, and helping to build a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
