In Tanzania, access to safe and clean toilets is a major challenge, particularly in rural areas where over 70% of the population lives. Many people in rural Tanzania do not have access to proper sanitation facilities and are forced to defecate in the open, which can lead to the spread of diseases and other health problems.
To address this issue, the Tanzanian government has implemented several initiatives to improve access to toilets and sanitation. For example, the government has launched a program to provide subsidies for the construction of pit latrines in rural areas and has also introduced measures to promote the use of composting toilets and greywater systems as more environmentally friendly alternatives.
